I’m reporting a critical issue affecting social sharing for Base44-hosted sites.
Facebook’s Sharing Debugger is consistently returning a 403 response when attempting to scrape pages (e.g. https://www.hope30.com).
After working with support, it was confirmed that:
The 403 is caused by Cloudflare WAF blocking Facebook crawler IPs (facebookexternalhit / Facebot)
This occurs before the request reaches the app (infrastructure-level)
Open Graph tags are correctly implemented in static index.html
robots.txt has been updated appropriately
The issue is not related to app code or configuration
Impact:
Facebook cannot generate link previews (no image, title, or description)
This significantly limits the ability to run organic posts and paid ads
It affects all Base44 users relying on social sharing
It creates a major disadvantage for marketing and growth
Request:
Please implement one of the following solutions:
Whitelist Facebook crawler IPs / user agents at the Cloudflare WAF level
Ensure Base44 apps return a 200 OK response to facebookexternalhit
Provide a server-side rendered (SSR) or pre-rendered HTML response for social crawlers
Offer an official workaround or supported method for proper Open Graph scraping
This is a fundamental requirement for any production website.
Happy to provide additional debugging details if helpful.
Thank you!
