Hi Base44 Product Team,
I am reaching out because I recently discussed this issue with Suzanne from your Support Team. She confirmed that this is a real platform limitation and suggested that I submit this request directly to the Product Team, as it is an important compliance-related feature.
I am building a wellness application with both free and paid membership options.
On my landing page, I have two primary buttons:
Join Now — intended for new users.
Log In — intended for users who already have an account.
For legal and compliance reasons, every new user must review and accept my Privacy Policy and Terms of Use before creating an account.
My intended registration flow is:
Join Now → Choose Plan → Accept Privacy Policy and Terms of Use → Create Account
Although the Log In button is intended for existing users, any new user can click it.
Inside the Sign In modal, there is a link:
“Need an account? Sign up”
This link opens the default Base44 registration flow, which allows a new account to be created without requiring acceptance of my Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
As a result, users can bypass my custom registration flow and create an account without agreeing to my legal documents.
Users should be able to review the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use before deciding whether they want to create an account and before any personal data is processed.
Allowing account creation before legal consent creates a significant compliance issue.
When I contacted Support, I was advised to use a post-registration workaround in which users would be required to accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use after their account had already been created, but before they could access the app.
While I understand this can serve as a backup safeguard, it does not solve the core issue.
The legal documents should be accepted before account creation, not after.
Suzanne suggested disabling public sign-up or setting the app to invite-only.
This may be a viable temporary solution, provided that users can still create accounts through my custom Join Now flow.
I would like Base44 to support one of the following options:
Allow developers to fully customize the default Base44 sign-up screen.
Allow the “Need an account? Sign up” link to redirect to a custom registration flow.
Allow developers to disable the default sign-up path while keeping custom sign-up flows fully functional.
The ideal experience would be:
Existing users click Log In and sign in normally.
New users click Join Now and complete:
Join Now → Choose Plan → Accept Privacy Policy and Terms of Use → Create Account
If a new user clicks Log In and then “Need an account? Sign up,” they are redirected to the same custom registration flow.
No account can be created without first accepting the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
This functionality is essential for anyone building a professional and legally compliant application on Base44.
Developers must be able to ensure that users cannot bypass required legal consent during registration.
I am preparing to launch AB Shaping and hope this issue can be addressed as soon as possible.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Best regards,
Anna Boyar
