A custom Stripe integration was built — by agents — in our app without using Base44’s Stripe Integration plugin. In fact, we didn’t know that a native integration option existed until post-launch when we discovered that the Sales Overview tab of the analytics dashboard relies exclusively on that integration. As a result we are getting no benefit from that Analytics tab.
The Stripe integrations panel offers no manual configuration option, and no explanation of what it actually does (or doesn’t do). Admins are limited to a fixed set of prompts, none of which apply to our situation. Moreover, attempting any of these actions are likely to break our existing service, which has been tested and is relied upon in production.
The Base44 agent explained “I genuinely do not have a tool to link the Stripe analytics connector to your account. Connecting it requires authenticating your Stripe account through an OAuth/claim screen — an account-ownership action that only you can complete. There is no builder tool exposed to me that performs that account linkage.”
So, it seems that neither humans nor agents have the ability to configure this, and more critically, it appears that any attempt to transition to use the native connector would involve a significant code rewrite. Paired with the lack of a reliable testing environment, this makes payment management extremely brittle.
Requests:
Please train agents to leverage integration offerings as a preferred path, only diverting when necessary. Ensure transparency for users so that we are aware of what integration plugins are being used or NOT used and why.
Allow manual configuration options so that Admins are not limited to agent-led workflows for critical tooling.
When offering prompt suggestions, include the option for a custom prompt to avoid dead ends.
Provide smooth transition paths so that apps with pre-built integrations have ways to adopt native connectors with lower risk and redevelopment cost.
