I am writing this to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the Base44 bot and the lack of transparency regarding platform limitations.
For the past several hours, I have been working with the bot to implement a Push Notification system for my app. I followed every instruction, executed multiple commands, and wasted a significant amount of credits building out logic, only to be told at the very end—after the work was "done"—that this feature is technically impossible to deploy on Base44.
The bot led me on a wild goose chase:
It provided specific code for service workers.
It instructed me on how to set up VAPID keys and backend cron jobs.
It even updated my app version to v1.6.4 under the pretense that these features were being implemented.
Only after I spent my resources did I find out that Base44 does not support custom service workers and that "Push notifications are not currently supported."
This is unacceptable. If a feature is not supported by the platform's architecture, the AI builder should be programmed to inform the user immediately, rather than allowing them to burn through credits building "ghost functions" that will never work.
I have now wasted time and money creating a version of my app that I have to manually roll back. I expect a review of this incident and a refund of the credits spent on these misleading bot interactions.
Platform users should be warned that the bot might suggest technical implementations that contradict Base44's own documentation.
