Switching between test database and production database in development mode

I have recently been made aware that in development mode you can switch between test database and production database. The reason I haven't seen this is because the switching function is very unclear. It's just a small difference in color. I think it should be very clearly marked which database is displayed in development mode. There should be a locking function and a dialog box when switching between databases. As it stands now, it is designed to go wrong, you can register test data in the production database and vice versa. I really hope you take this into account.
